The Chinese General Administration of Customs (GAC) on the 31st of August 2022, signed an agreement together with Iranian Ministry of Agriculture on permitting the import of Iranian oranges into China which was the first agreement on importation of fruit between China and Iran.

The initial batch of 1.78 tons of oranges originating from Iran were shipped into China by plane through Shanghai Pudong International Airport. To keep the oranges new, Shanghai Customs has implemented an efficient clearance procedures. Oranges were cleared from their destination at Pudong International Airport by noon on Saturday, and are scheduled to be placed onto shelves to Chinese buyers while maintaining that food safety and biosafety are protected.

Furthermore, Iranian apples have been allowed to enter China as per the latest agreement between the two sides signed on February 21st, 2023.
