Rangpur farmers are content by the record-breaking harvest of onions. Prices across every district of the Rangpur agricultural region are appealing too. Officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension farmers have harvested 104,263 tonnes of the crop, as opposed to output of 103,809 tonnes during the past Rabi season.

Market sources reported that the price of locally grown onion has been ranging between Taka 75-80 per kilo in the local markets for kitchens, despite it was priced between Taka 40 to 45 one month earlier.

The previous year, the farmers harvested an estimated 89,970 tonnes over this year’s Rabi season. Then, they produced 66,886 tons in the period of 2018 to 2019 Rabi season, and 62,673 tonnes of the fragrant crop during the 2017-2018 Rabi season in the region.
